Glad you asked!
So, recently you may be aware of (if you are in Davis College) the browser restrictions of YouTube. This is also quite prominent with notable sites like Reddit being blocked as well as countless other websites that may be blocked by school administration. Fine, right? You can't control that or anything, can you? ...Can you?!
Apparently, the school staff are incredibly bad with technology and didn't account for the fact that the main browser that sets itself as default browser if it isn't already actually has - and get ready for this - debug tools built in. YUP, THAT'S RIGHT! DAVIS COLLEGE DID NOT BLOCK THE DEBUG TOOLS!
That default browser quip is NOT a joke either; if you visit chrome://policy, you can view every policy put in place by the school. Hell, if your school does something similar and has Chrome as the main browser, you can most likely do this as well! Here, lemme show you:
This, guys, gals and non-binary pals, is the policy that tells Chrome to check if it is the default browser, and if it is not, it will force itself to be the default browser. Seeing as Chrome does do this and is constantly set as default (hell, it's so bad even MS Edge won't try to interfere!)
Need more proof? Here you are!
Looks like a strange site.. wonder if it leads to somewh-
...Guys, come on! A 404 Error as your FORCED HOME PAGE?! Sure, okay, fine. Let's go with this dumbass logic here a second. Maybe it used to be a website? google.ie did become a deprecated site, maybe that's it? Although you'd think they'd have fixed that by now, they had an entire YEAR TO DO IT!
Yes, yes, this has been their homepage for the ENTIRETY of last year! Seriously, does NO ONE manage the browser administration?! I was genuinely kidding when I'd told myself that they don't care about these computers, but do they actually not?! Plus, they're still on Windows 10! Granted, I don't particularly mind it but they're sorta losing out on security starting in October (yes, if you didn't know Windows 10 was ending service, now you do, it's ending service on October 16th, 2025) so they either might wanna start updating their equipment or going down the path of the military and rolling with this version of Windows, but they need to pick one and fast!
Tangent aside, I figure I may be either the first person to find out this works or I am one of a few who know about this. This is simply an entrypoint, although since I'm using this secluded area of the site for updates and shit, I can basically do whatever.
Anyway, check back soon!
